Privacy Policy

Amar Gazipur (আমার গাজীপুর) (“we”, “the app”) is a free community app for the residents of Gazipur — finding blood donors, lost & found, local jobs, events, and a directory of local establishments. Your privacy matters to us. This policy describes what information we collect, why, how we use and protect it, and what rights you have.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide directly

• Account information: name, email address, mobile number, upazila, and password (stored in hashed form, never in plain text); optionally your address, date of birth, and a referral code if someone invited you.
• Profile photo: stored if you choose to upload one.
• Blood donor profile: blood group, last donation date, weight, date of birth, area, and availability (optional, only if you register as a donor). Weight and eligibility details are visible only to you.
• User-generated content: blood requests, lost & found posts, job and event listings, reviews, comments, and any images or contact details you attach to them.
• Communications: messages you send to support and content you report.

Information collected automatically

• Device & push token: device/push token and device type, used to deliver notifications.
• Login & security data: IP address and browser/device information (user agent) recorded with your sign-in sessions and account activity, used to show your active devices, detect suspicious activity, and prevent abuse.
• Usage & diagnostic data: which features are used, crash and error logs, and approximate timing — to improve the app.
• Approximate location: derived from the area/upazila you enter, to show nearby listings. We do not track precise GPS location.

2. How we use information

• Create your account and verify your mobile number via SMS OTP.
• Provide blood donor, listing, directory, and other community features.
• Send relevant notifications (such as blood requests).
• Prevent spam, fake profiles and abuse, review reports, and maintain security.
• Analyse app performance, troubleshoot, and improve the app.
• Comply with legal obligations.

3. Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal information. Information is shared only:

• With other users: content you post publicly (such as your donor profile, blood requests, and lost & found posts) — including the name, area, and contact details you include — is visible to other users.
• Donor contact number: if you register as a blood donor, other users can see your mobile number while you are eligible to donate and have the “share my contact” (আমার যোগাযোগ শেয়ার করুন) setting enabled in your donor profile. You can turn this off at any time. Blood group and last donation date are shown only if you register as a donor.
• With service providers: hosting, SMS OTP, push notification, and crash/analytics providers, only as needed to operate the service.
• For legal reasons: to comply with law or valid government requests, or to protect the safety of users and the public.

4. Data retention

We retain information while your account is active and, afterwards, for a reasonable period as needed for legal, security, and dispute-resolution purposes. When you request account deletion, we delete your personal information other than backups and logs.

5. Security

We use reasonable technical and administrative measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and verified accounts. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.

6. Your rights

• View and edit your information from your profile.
• Delete your own posts and content.
• Request deletion of your account and associated personal information.
• Turn off notifications from your device settings.

How to delete your account

In the app:

• Open Amar Gazipur and sign in.
• Go to Settings and tap অ্যাকাউন্ট মুছে ফেলুন (Delete account).
• Enter your password and confirm.

Without the app: email [email protected] from the address on your account, or tell us the mobile number registered to it, with the subject “Delete my account”. We will verify your identity and process the request.

What is deleted: your account, profile, blood donor profile, posts, comments, reviews, notification settings and device tokens. What may be kept: events, directory listings and advertisements you submitted may remain but are no longer linked to your account; backups and security or abuse-prevention logs are retained for a limited period as described in Section 4.

7. Children’s privacy

This app is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

8. Third-party services

The app may use the following types of third-party services:

• SMS gateway for mobile number verification.
• Push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging, by Google).
• Crash reporting and usage analytics (Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics, by Google). Google’s handling of this data is described at policies.google.com/privacy.
• Cloud hosting and file storage.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If changes are significant, we will notify you in the app or on this page. Check the “Last updated” date above for the current version.
